Group 8 Bead-Leaved Mesembs
Genus name. The genus name is derived from the Latin word monile (string of pearls); monilaria means a collection of strings of pearls.
Distribution. This genus is found in Namaqualand, in the Western and Northern Cape Provinces of South Africa. Plants grow fully exposed (except for Monilaria Obconica) mostly on clay and quartzitic soils. Populations are often small.
