Group 10 Dwarf Shrubby Mesembs
Genus name. The name is derived from the Lating words corpusculum (a body) and aria (a collection), thus "a group of bodies", in reference to the leaves which form bodies by their close fusion, and their aggregation into clusters.
Distribution. The genus is restricted to the Eastern Cape Province, South Africa, where it occurs from Port Elizabeth up to Grahamstown. Plants grow on rocky slopes where they are often shaded by the surrounding vegetation.
Cultivation. These plants are indestructible. They are most active in summer, but are responsive to any season and adaptable to any ambience. They prefer slight shade but can be planted in open rockeries or containers. Propagation is from cuttings. Water sparingly in summer.
